All About that (Project) Life

In addition to the stuff I’ll be doing with my Smash Book, I’ll be dabbling in a few things with Project Life as well. The PL journey begins with a 2 hour basics class next month at Michael’s. Bought the supplies I needed for the class today and I’m getting pretty excited about it. What will I be making with all this? I have no clue. I’ll also be printing out more photos and maybe grab a few more items before then.

I also saw that the PL Seasons mini kit that I’ve been eyeing for a while was on clearance. Score!¬† Looking forward to what all of this awesome haul has in store for me.

Items purchased:
Project Life – Cinnamon edition album, Design A photo pocket pages, Heidi Swapp overlay kit, Seasonal mini kit

Heidi Swapp – Layered tags

Nike Women’s Half Marathon 2014

It had been a little over a year since I ran my first marathon at Disneyland. I seriously didn’t think that I’d be chosen for this one since the lottery system was used. So after registering, I pretty much forgot about it until I received a confirmation from Nike via email. Despite being sore and probably will be for another day or two, I’m glad that I seized the opportunity and took on this race. I had sprained my ankle more than a month before race day, so that discouraged me a bit from training. I beat my times from my first marathon by a few minutes, but I know the margin would have been wider had I not gotten injured.

I don’t talk about it much, but running for me has always been a challenge. It takes discipline, more so now that I’m working Monday through Friday. That leaves the weekends, and I’ll head out to get a session in if I can wake up early enough. It definitely helps to have friends to run with when your schedules allow.

I’m debating whether or not to try again for this marathon next year. For sure I will run another marathon generally in the not too distant future. Looking into a 10K since I haven’t done one yet. Yep, I went from several 5Ks then straight to a half. Although I did register for a 10K last year, my work schedule conflicted with it, so I had to back out. For now I’ll bask in the victory (not to mention the cool Tiffany necklace) from this past weekend. Another¬†awesome memory for the books this year.

13.1 miles done, and a little blue box for my reward.
Friends and I posing with some SF firemen after the race. They must have been sweating in those suits (it was around the low 80s that afternoon).!

Project Smash: Stan Lee

Wasn’t planning to work on another page in my Smash book for at least another week, but it’s a bit hard to resist after buying more (*sigh*, yes more) stuff for future projects. I had been meaning to do something with this photo I took with Stan Lee from Comic Con a few years ago. My friends and I were at a party at the Puma store and had no idea that he would stop by. Sure enough, he was immediately surrounded by party goers for the few minutes he was there. He was very nice, and all of my group had an individual photo-op with him. I’ll place another copy of this photo in an album eventually.

I experimented with the foam dots I bought to make some of the embellishments “pop” from the page. It looks pretty good, but unfortunately you can’t see the effect. Tape runner was used for the photo and other pieces.

On this page:
We R Memory Keepers – Dreamy edition “Caught on Film” journal card

Heidi Swapp – “Love this” sticker, “wow”, “great day”, and star embellishments

Smash – Conversation bubble sticker and OMG stamp

Project Smash: My Favorites

After skimming through the pages of my Smash book, I chose a section with a place to jot down info about some of my favorite things. I smashed 2 of my favorite selfie photos in the page next to it. The result is a bit simple, but I like it. The ball of ideas for what to do next is now rolling!

On this page:
Recollections – White photo frame
SN@P! – Decorated photo frame, mustache center card, and “smile” sticker
Daiso – Black dot washi tape
