I’m taking a break from my SDCC related posts! Once again combining the empties with the products I’m currently enjoying since there aren’t too many.
Not Your Mother’s Way to Grow Long & Strong Shampoo – This sulfate free shampoo smells amazing. There was a buy 1 get 1 50% deal at Ulta for the NYM products, so I swooped in on 2 more. I have this to thank for my hair being as long as it is (way past my shoulders) and not having it trimmed for several months. I’ll finally get that done later this week.
Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner – It took me a few months to get through this since since I used it only at night. Another great smelling product! It didn’t irritate my skin, and helped a bit with lightening some of my post acne spots. Will surely purchase another one in the near future.
Cinema Secrets Makeup Brush Cleaner (transferred to Sephora container) – I got this at The Makeup Show in San Francisco last year. It didn’t last in its original packaging because part of the spray nozzle broke off. It did a great job of cleaning my brushes. However, I’m not too fond of the scent. It’s supposed to be vanilla, but it smelled more to me like Malibu Rum. Strong stuff! I’ve since changed to a cleaner from Sephora that’s a little easier on my nose.
Wet N Wild H2O Proof Liquid Liner – I have my love/hate moments with liquid liners, but this one isn’t too bad for the price (under $5, score!). The felt brush tip on the applicator makes it easy to apply. I’ve worn it twice and so far so good. Looks like this will be coming with me on my trip next month.
Marc Jacobs Glistening Illuminator in Spotlight – I’m still a stranger to the whole contour/highlight game, but I will say practice makes perfect. I received this to try compliments of Influenster, and I’m diggin’ the results. The packaging is sleek and portable, and the product itself is a universal shade that’s a breeze to apply, layer, and blend.

I came across yet more contests to attend SD next month for either Comic-Con or the Star Trek premiere. Good luck to those of you who decide to enter.
SD Radio contests:
The following radio stations in San Diego are giving away pairs of single day badges to SDCC. Just text the code to the specified number and keep your fingers crossed! All of these are only open to San Diego County residents 16 and over until July 21st.
Fandango and Suicide Squad want to send a winner and a guest to SDCC. Prize includes 2 4-day with Preview Night badges, airfare, hotel, spending money, and VIP admission to Hall H for the Warner Brothers panels. Contest is open to US residents (except Rhode Island) until July 6th. You can enter via Fandango’s contest website here.
Here’s another opportunity to attend the premiere of the movie in San Diego! Sign up for a VIZIO account and redeem your points to enter. It’s free and you’ll automatically receive 10,000 points, which is more than enough for entry. Contest is open until June 30th. Open to US residents 21 and over only. Check out more info for the contest at SDCC Unofficial Blog, and enter it on VIZIO’s website. Good luck!
It’s about that time again! 30 days until Comic-Con (a little less than that for me since I plan to fly down to SD early). Just wanted to throwback to a post last year of my first experience at the convention.
Today marks a month until I once again make my way down to San Diego for their annual Comic Con. I’ve decided to post each weekend prior to the event on things I’ve experienced with the…
Are you good at deciphering codes? No seriously, are you? Then you might have a chance at winning 2 4-day badges for Comic-Con next month in San Diego. Check it out, and let the brain busting begin. No confirmation on area restrictions for the contest, but I’ll update as soon as I hear from them. Hopefully. Good luck!
I received 4 snack items and 1 candy item in this box, plus a toy bonus.
Big Bar Z: White Choco – The shape of this reminded me of a churro, with a crispy wafer-like texture. And it has white chocolate inside. Not a big fan of the stuff, but it was tasty.
Calbee French Salad potato chips – Modeled after the nicoise salad, the taste of these is similar to that of salt and vinegar, but not too strong. I liked it.
Mochitto Kinako Mochi – Kinako is a roasted soy flour, which is what covers this slightly sweet mochi. So good! I wish the portion could have been bigger.
Puku Puku Taichoco – The phrase “pukupuku” refers to the sound of fish gulping. This large wafer resembles the popular taiyaki, which is a fish-shaped dessert that often contains a red bean filling. This one contained chocolate cream filling. Delish!
Sour Cider Gum – Japan Crate is back at it again with another cider flavored item. It definitely had a slightly tart flavor, but wasn’t too sour. And surprisingly it lasted longer than the other types of gum I’ve received from past boxes.
*bonus* Kitty Cup – Gachapon, or vending machine capsule toys, can be found just about anywhere in Japan. Every box shipped had one with a kitten inside a mug. Can we say kawaii?
Good variety with this box. I’m just about finished eating through Volume 12, so stay tuned for another review!
I came across 2 more contests for the premiere in San Diego next month. Although it’s not a direct ticket to SDCC, it’s still a chance to take part in one of the hottest off site events for the year.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car in collaboration with Paramount Pictures will send 1 winner and a guest to San Diego between July 19 – 21. The prize includes airfare, hotel, ground transportation to and from the hotel, and spending money. This contest is open from now until Wednesday July 6th. Only US residents are eligible. Click here to enter.
Omaze will send 1 winner and a guest to San Diego to not just the premiere, but also to meet the cast and attend the after party. Prize includes airfare and hotel. The only catch is they request a charitable donation to enter (starting at $10 USD for 100 entries). This is an international contest (please check the official rules for restrictions) and is currently open until Thursday July 14th. Visit here to enter.
The contest by Skydance that I previously posted is still open until Monday July 4th (US residents only).
Listen up, Trekkies! The premiere of the latest Star Trek flick will be shown at SDCC next month. Skydance is giving 2 winners and their guests tickets to this event, along with airfare, hotel, and spending money. Find more about it via the SDCC Unofficial Blog. Note that this contest is for the event during SDCC, not the convention itself, and is open only to US residents.
