The Girly Tag

I smirked when I came across this on all about leanne. I do not consider myself very girly. I’m actually more on the  casual side and only doll myself up on certain occasions. However, upon finishing this post, my collection of different products/accessories say otherwise.

Makeup

What foundation do you use? When I actually do get around to it, I use a blend of Rimmel’s Stay Matte in Classic Beige and NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat in Medium Beige.

What eyebrow pencil do you use? No pencil, but I do use Benefit’s Gimme Brow in Meium/Deep.

What eyeliner do you use? My HG is MAC’s Fluidline in Blacktrack. It needs to be replaced, but until then I’m trying out the NYX gel eyeliner & smudger in Betty (jet black). So far so good, plus it’s cheaper.

What mascara do you use? My favorite is tarte’s Lights, Camera, Lashes, which I save for special occasions. I’ll be tossing out a few soon, so I’m getting a few more uses out of Maybelline’s Voluminous Butterfly and Eyeko’s Black Magic.

What are 5 of your favorite lip balms/glosses/lipsticks? Here are my current faves (in no particular order):

  1. Julep Lip Gloss – Charming
  2. bareMinerals Marvelous Moxie – Maverick
  3. NYX Butter Gloss – Angel Food Cake
  4. NYX Lip Lingerie – Bedtime Flirt
  5. Cover Girl Colorlicious Oh Sugar! Lip Balm – Caramel

Hair

Do you color your hair? Once in a while. Haven’t done it since around June/July last year.

At the salon? I’ve only had that done once. Might consider it since I have yet to achieve the color I want.

What is your stylist’s name?  Tina. I’ve been seeing her for over a decade.

What is your natural hair color? Black

Do you use a curing iron? Rarely.

Do you use a hair straightener? I ought to since my hair is growing out and it’s now part wavy/straight. But I’m lazy. 😛

Do you use hair serum? If so, what kind? Nope.

Do you use any other hair products? If so, what kind? After I showering, I apply Pantene’s Intensely Strong Repair Creme on the ends, then spray on a detangler all over (currently using Infusium’s Repair and Renew Leave-In Treatment). I also use the latter prior to styling when my hair is dry. I also use Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo if my roots get a bit oily in between washing.

What shampoo and conditioner do you use?  Only conditioner I use is the Infusium leave-in from the last question. As for shampoo, there’s Suave Clarifying, Clear Scalp and Hair Active Damage Resist Shampoo, and Not Your Mother’s Way To Grow Long and Strong.

Scents

What deodorant do you use? Women’s Mitchum in Pure Fresh

What body wash do you use? St. Ives Purifying Sea Salt

What perfumes do you use/like? Name 5.

  1. Chloe
  2. Ulta Sheer Fragrance Mist in Precious Poppies (discontinued)
  3. FRESH Sugar Lychee
  4. D&G 3 L’imperatrice
  5. The Blend 7 – White Tea (on my wish list)

Do you always have to smell good? I don’t have to noticeably smell good, but I do like to be clean. Who doesn’t?

Jewelry

Are diamonds really a girl’s best friend? Not in my case.

What jewelry do you wear the most? Stud earrings

What jewelry do you crave the most? Nothing, really. Although I’ve had my eye on the Renegade Bracelet from Stella & Dot for a while. I’ll purchase it eventually.

Purses & Shoes

How many purses do you own? At least 10. I don’t really keep track of that.

Which is your favorite? My black leather one from Coach.

How many pairs of shoes do you own? I don’t keep track of these either! Maybe close to 20.

Which pair is your favorite? My Vans slip ons.

Shopping

What are your top 5 favorite stores to buy clothes? I came up 1 short.

  1.  Express
  2. H&M
  3. Old Navy
  4. Target

What is your favorite shirt? Any  graphic tee.

What are your favorite jeans? I have a pair from Calvin Klein that’s straight legged and very comfortable. I often wear it when I travel.

Miscellaneous

Favorite nail polish? O.P.I.’s Meet Me on the Star Ferry

Favorite magazine to read? I can’t even recall the last time I cracked one open. Last one I subscribed to was Runner’s World, so I guess that.

Favorite book? More like books.  Ready Player One by Ernest Cline was an awesome geeky read. I’m almost finished with The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing by Marie Condo. And I’ve gone through a few chapters of Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari. Hilarious.

Favorite band? Too hard to have just one favorite!

Favorite girly movie? Barely Legal and 13 Going On 30

Do you enjoy being a girl? Yep!

Tagged – 30 Disney Questions

Found this on Life With A Little Shine’s blog.

1. Favorite Princess? Mulan, although she’s technically not a princess according to the movies.

2. Favorite prince? Philip from Sleeping Beauty

3. Favorite couple? Flynn and Rapunzel

4. Least favorite princess? Don’t have one.

5. Least favorite prince? Prince Adam (aka The Beast). It’s the long hair. 😛

6. Least favorite couple? Don’t have one for that either.

7. Favorite dress/outfit? The movie is overrated to me, but I do like Elsa’s outfit.

8. Least favorite dress/outfit? Aurora, only because I’m not into pink.

9. A princess who inspires you? Mulan and Merida.

10. Worst decision made by a princess? Ariel giving Ursula her voice.

11. A villain you feel was justified in their treatment of the princess/prince? Uh, no one?

12. A princess you would like to trade places with. Rapunzel

13. A princess whose life you would hate to have? Aurora because she spends most of it asleep. Talk about FOMO!

14. A princess you think is a bad role model for young girls? Snow White’s story is not exactly the best example of relationship goals, so I’d pick her.

15. Favorite tiara? Elsa

16. Favorite song sung by a princess (can include duets)? I recently saw a video on Youtube of a Disney medley of love songs and immediately got misty eyed at the first one, which was “I See the Light” from Rapunzel.

17. Least favorite song sung by a princess? Nothing for this one.

18. The princess with whom you would be best friends? Either Mulan or Rapunzel.

19. The princess with whom you’d be frenemies? No one.

20. The princes you would openly hate and be enemies with? This seems like an extension of the previous question, to which I give the same answer.

21. The princess you would dress as for a halloween/costume party? Either Mulan or Merida.

22. List three admirable qualities about the princess you named in question #2. That would be prince. Prince Philip was determined to get to Aurora despite the many obstacles that got in his way, which makes him both brave and loyal. Plus he has the best smile of all the princes in my opinion.

23. A princess you feel didn’t deserve her happy ending. Well that’s just harsh. Everyone, even a princess, deserves to be happy!

24. The happy ending you feel didn’t make sense/was too easy. They were all pretty understandable endings.

25. Favorite sidekick. Mushu from Mulan.

26. Most interestsing story. Mulan.

27. Best singing voice. They all have great voices.

28. Edge of your seat, the moment you found most exciting. It’s a tie between Merida and the bears and Mulan’s battle with The Huns.

29. If you were a Disney princess, what would your story be? I’d take either Mulan or Merida’s story.

30. What do you want to see from the next Disney princess? Someone who’s brave, smart, confident, and humorous.

7 Posts ’til Christmas – Holly Jolly Holiday Tag

I liked this on a brash attitude‘s blog and wanted to do it as well.

1. Do you start your Christmas shopping on Black Friday or wait until the last minute? Black Friday signals the beginning of holiday shopping for me, and I usually try to cross things off my list during the week instead of waiting for the weekend. That’s when the malls are crowded and lines tend to be longer. No thanks!

2. If you could be in any Christmas movie, what would it be? A Christmas Story. I’d be one of the kids on the playground that witness Ralphie’s friend get his tongue stuck on a pole. Haha!

3. Which do you like better, Christmas Eve or Christmas Day? Christmas Day because that’s when my family (mom’s side) gets together. Christmas Eve used to be celebrated on my dad’s side, but it’s grown too large since my cousins now have their own families. So they have their separate celebrations.

4. When does your family put up your Christmas tree and who decorates it? We lagged a bit this year because my dad was getting a bit lazy with decorating. My mom told him not to be a Scrooge and put up a tree. So he bought a small one from the tree lot and also decorated it.

5. White lights or colored lights? I like them both. We alternate which ones we put on the tree each year.

6. Are you guilty of peeking at your presents or do you like surprises? When I was a kid, I went to great lengths to find out what I’d get from my parents. Now I don’t really have to do that because they just give me money so I can buy what I want. The presents I get from friends are always a surprise.

7. Would you rather live in a gingerbread house or Santa’s Workshop? Unfortunately I’m not a big fan of gingerbread, so Santa’s shop it is!

8. Tell us your Christmas Eve traditions. My parents go out in the morning and get baked goods from a local Filipino bakery that we eat after attending mass that evening. During the day my mom and I also prepare the food for Christmas when her side of the family comes over.

9. If you could be under the mistletoe with anyone, who would it be? I do have someone special in mind and I’d choose them. I’ll keep their identity a secret. 😛

10. What tops your tree? It’s usually a white star that lights up, but since our tree is smaller, it’s a cluster of metallic ornaments, star included.

17 Posts ’til Christmas – The Christmas Tag

Found this on lancoraperla’s blog and decided to include it in my post countdown.

  1. Favorite Christmas film? Home Alone
  2. Ever had a white Christmas? The closest I ever got to that was one Christmas when I was a kid. When we woke up that morning, there was a thick layer of frost on all the rooftops of the houses in my neighborhood. Apparently it was so bad that our plants outside were frozen too.
  3. Where do you usually spend the holiday? We’ve had family over at our place for the past few years, but on other times it’s been at another relative’s place. I have yet to spend Christmas out of town.
  4. Favorite Christmas song? The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole
  5. Is your tree real or fake? Fake. Although I’m sure it’s great having a real tree with the smell of pine and all. It just takes the work out of having to keep it watered and disposing of it once Christmas is over.
  6. All-time favorite holiday food? Since we only get it only once a year, I’d say Honey Baked Ham.
  7. Best Christmas gift you ever received? I can’t really single out any particular gift at the moment. I’ve gotten some good ones from friends and my parents though.
  8. What made you realize the truth about Santa? I had it figured out once my parents stopped stuffing the stockings for myself and my brother. It actually wasn’t that big of a deal.
  9. What makes the holidays special for you? It’s an opportunity to see family and friends that you don’t see often during the year.
  10. What’s better, giving or receiving presents? ‘Tis better to give than to receive. I totally agree with that. Plus, seeing the reaction the person you give something to (especially if it’s something they want) is pretty satisfying.

Tagged: Fall Into Autumn

Came across this tag thanks to stashmatters. I wasn’t actually tagged for it, so I won’t be selecting other blogs to participate. But feel free to do this if you’d like. Only a few days left until Winter officially arrives!

Rules

1. Include the blog links of the tag creators (Lilian and Denise).
2. Thank the last person who tagged you and link their blogs in your post.
3. Be thoughtful and creative when you answer these questions.
4. After answering the questions, pass the tag onto at least five more bloggers to spread the autumn joy!

The Questions:

1. What is your go-to fall color? I’ve been leaning towards burgundy/wine/plum since the weather started to cool down.

2. When you think of fall, what song comes to mind? This has absolutely nothing to do with Fall, but Michael Jackson’s Thriller is one that I have to listen to around Halloween. 😛

3. During the Fall, which trend do you lean towards more, smoky eye or dark lip? I have the tools to do both, but I don’t have to put in too much effort for a dark lip, so I choose the latter.

4. Do you change up you skincare routine when fall comes in? I try my best to moisturize a bit more towards the end of the year since my skin has more of a tendency to dry out.

5. What’s your favorite thing about fall? Seeing colorful leaves on the trees and hearing them crunch when you walk through them. The air also seems to have a bit of a “smoky” smell to it, which I love.

6. Would you rather go out for a walk or stay inside the house during the fall? I’d choose the former as the transition to fall begins, but I’m absolutely OK with staying in.

Tagged – This or That (Beauty Edition)

Found this one on stashmatters‘ blog.

Makeup

Blush or Bronzer? Easy, blush. Still getting the hang of using bronzer.

Lipgloss or lipstick? If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you know how much I love gloss.

Eyeliner or mascara? Didn’t reach for it much when I started using makeup, but mascara is way easier for me to apply than liner.

Foundation or concealer? Lately I’ve been more concerned about letting my skin “breathe” since I’m treating my face for mild acne. Concealer does the job well with covering up just the problem areas.

Neutral or colored eye shadow? If there were a group called Neutral Lovers Anonymous, I’d totally join.

Pressed or loose eye shadow? Pressed pwns loose.

Brushes or sponges? I use brushes more often, however, sponges come in handy for blending foundation and concealer.

Nails

O.P.I. or China Glaze? Tough one here. I own colors from both brands, but CG gets extra points for price.

Long or short? Short.

Acrylic or natural? Acrylics can thin/damage the nail bed, so natural it is. I’ve gotten complimented on my real nails at the salon before. 😀

Brights or darks? Wait, what? No neutrals? Hmmph. Dark side it is.

Flower or no flower? Nope on designs. Just nope.

Body

Perfume or Body Splash? I actually use both. Body splash daily, and perfume for special occasions.

Lotion or body butter? I use lotion more. Not enough, but much more than body butter.

Body wash or soap? Both.

LUSH or other bath company? I’ve tried a few things from LUSH, but not their bath products. I don’t really lean towards a particular company when it comes to them.

Fashion

Jeans or sweat pants? Jeans for going out (obviously). I live in sweats when I’m at home.

Long sleeve or short? Been using the long sleeves lately because of work. But I tend to warm up quickly regardless of the season, so short ones FTW.

Dresses or skirts? How un-girly of me to say this, but I’m not a big fan of either.

Stripes or plaid? Mad for plaid! I have a handful of short sleeved button ups from H&M.

Flip flops or sandals? Flip flops.

Scarves or hats? Scarves. Sometimes I wish I could get more into hats, but I feel they don’t look right on me.

Studs or dangly earrings? I wear studs every day.

Necklaces or bracelets? I’m more for the arm candy.

Heels or flats? Flats. I just can’t seem to hang in heels as long as I used to.

Cowboy boots or riding boots? Riding boots. I should look for some since it’s been a while since I’ve bought a pair, generally speaking.

Jacket or hoodie? Hoodie.

Forever 21 or Charlotte Russe? Eh, no. H&M, yes.

Abercrombie or Hollister? I haven’t set foot inside either of them in years. Not like their stuff fit me well anyway. I was more of an Aeropostale shopper.

Saks 5th or Nordstrom? There’s more of the latter around my area.

Hair

Curly or straight? It’s a toss up between straight and wavy, depending on my mood.

Bun or ponytail? Bun.

Bobby pins or butterfly clips? Clips since my hair is long. So sad I lost my favorite octo claw clip over the weekend. 😦

Hairspray or gel? I use both depending on the hair issue.

Long or short? Long.

Light or dark? Dark.

Side swept bangs or full bangs? Side swept.

Up or down? It’s usually up.

Random

Rain or shine? Rain

Summer or winter? Winter

Fall or spring? I like aspects of both.

Chocolate or vanilla? Chocolate. Dark.

East coast or west coast? Wessyde!!!

1. Spring, Summer, Winter, or Fall? Don’t have a sole favorite. I like each of them for different reasons.

2. What does your ideal date notice and compliment you on? My smile, sense of humor, and how I’m not shy when it comes to food (heheh!).

3. Would you rather give up lipstick, hair products, or mascara for an entire year? As a lip gloss junkie, I would say lipstick.

4. If you could leave just one message for the world to hear, what would that message be? Treat others how you would want to be treated.

5. A genie appears and offers you a wish. What one beauty task would you never perform again? Concealing blemishes/dark spots. It’s become more frequent lately.

6. You have two options: money or happiness? Additionally: Infinite wardrobe or flawless face? Happiness definitely, and an infinite wardrobe.

8. Have you had a “perfect day”, and what did it entail? Spending a whole day with a close friend during one of my extra days in San Diego following Comic Con weekend. 10. I have not lived until I’ve seen ___. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida. Yes, they’re also building one here in CA, but I haven’t been to the Universal in Florida, ever. Plus it’s bigger.

Tagged – I Love Fall

Found this tag on FunLovintravelers‘ blog and wanted to do it as well. I haven’t been so happy to have fall arrive as I am this year. Summer was great. At times way too hot, but nevertheless great. Glad to finally see cooler temperatures and have an excuse to bring out the light jackets and sweaters.

What is your favorite fall lip product? Most definitely regular lip balm. The cold weather tends to dry up my lips.

What is your favorite fall nail polish (or what nail polish would you like to try)? Don’t have a particular shade in mind, but I may bring out my berry toned ones and use them in addition to my usual neutrals.

What is your favorite fall Starbucks drink? It’s usually been a Pumpkin Spice Latte in past years, but I’m really liking their Salted Caramel Mocha. *edit* Their Toasted Graham Latte is my fall fave!

What’s your favorite fall candle? Anything vanilla.

What’s your favorite fall scarf or accessories? I’ll probably be wearing my black infinity or black and white plaid scarf often.

Haunted house, Haunted hay ride, or haunted corn maze? How’s about a good ol’ trip to a pumpkin patch?! I’d settle for that.

What’s your favorite Halloween movie? It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown

What’s your favorite candy to eat on Halloween? The same one I like to eat all year round. Kit Kat!

What are you dressing up as on Halloween? I have a possible idea in mind. We’ll see if I can get some of the pieces ordered in time.

What is your favorite thing about fall? Walking through crunchy leaves and the way the air smells during the season.

Tagged – 100 Questions No One Ever Asks, Part 2

Fell upon this tag on fivezero‘s blog. Picking up from where I left off in Part 1, here’s the second half!

51. Ever used a gun? Only when I was at the shooting range several years ago. I believe I still have the targets I used while there.

52. Last time you got a portrait taken by a photographer? At a friend’s wedding a few weeks ago.

53. Do you think musicals are cheesy? From the ones that I’ve seen, yes. But that’s what makes them fun to watch.

54. Is Christmas stressful? Not really. Unless you’re the type of person to wait last minute to buy presents. I’ve seen that way too many times while working in retail. I like to get mine early. It’s more about spending time with loved ones, not pulling your hair out over gifts.

55. Ever eat a pierogi? I’m pretty sure I have. Now I’m beginning to doubt myself and will probably look for some later.

56.  Favorite type of fruit pie? Can’t go wrong with apple!

57. Occupations you wanted to be when you were a kid? The one thing I really wanted to do was dance. After all the dance classes I took when I was younger, I figured being a dancer full time was my calling. That is, until my mom disapproved. Way to crush a dream!

58. Do you believe in ghosts? Nope.

59. Ever have a de ja vu feeling? I’ve gotten it occasionally.

60. Take a vitamin daily? If I remember to take it.

61. Wear slippers? Usually during the cold months, otherwise no.

62. Wear a bath robe? Nope.

63. What do you wear to bed? T-shirt and sweat pants.

64. First concert? Backstreet Boys. A former boyfriend got tickets for it as my birthday present. It was a fun experience, although I think he enjoyed it slightly more because he had a bigger boy band phase than I did. 😛

65. Wal-mart, Target, or K-Mart? Hands down Target! I’m there at least once a week. When I used to live in San Jose, there was a Walmart location a few minutes away from my place. Still, the quality of the stuff I bought from there pales in comparison to Target. K-Marts are few and far between around my area.

66. Nike or Adidas? I’ve owned shoes and apparel from both brands, but more from Nike.

67. Cheetos or Fritos? Cheetos all day, erryday! OK no, but I love them way more than Fritos.

68. Peanuts or sunflower seeds? Peanuts, especially if they’re honey roasted.

Shout out to these Peanuts too! They’re cool.

69. Ever heard of the group Tres Bien? Uh, who?

70. Ever take dance lessons? Plenty! I tend to miss learning choreography every now and then. Can’t really pick it up as quickly as I used to.

71. Is there a profession you picture your future spouse doing? Let me picture who my future spouse would be, then I can probably answer this question.

72.  Can you curl your tongue? Yep.

73. Ever won a spelling bee? No, but I should have participated in one because I was pretty darn good at it in elementary school.

74. Have you ever cried because you were so happy? Not that I can recall.

75. Own any record albums? I think my dad kept a few of them from before I was born. It’s a few from Alvin and the Chipmunks. But I’m sure my Wham! album is still around. It better be!

76. Own a record player? Nope, but I’m sure the one my dad owns is in the house somewhere.

77. Regularly burn incense? Nope.

78. Ever been in love? Yep.

79. Who would you like to see in concert? I actually wish I saw Taylor Swift when she was in the Bay Area. She’s not my absolute favorite, but I liked how she brought out different surprise guests during her tour. Would have been awesome to witness that.

80. What was the last concert you saw? Oh gosh! Does Coachella count? I saw way too many artists there, and awesome ones at that.

81. Hot tea or cold tea? Depends on the occasion, but I usually order it iced.

82. Tea or coffee? Been on a coffee kick for a while now. Not helping that seasonal items from the Starbucks menu are rolling out.

83. Sugar or snickerdoodles? I’ll assume the former means sugar cookie, which is my choice between the 2.

84. Can you swim well? Yep. Not like Olympic competitor well, but I’ve taken lessons. Actually wanted to do lifeguard training, but never got around to it.

85. Can you hold your breath without holding your nose? Yep.

86. Are you patient? For the most part, yes.

87. DJ or band at a wedding? I think it’ll boil down to what I can afford, but probably a DJ. I have a handful of friends that are good, so the options are there.

88. Ever won a contest? Yep.

89. Ever have plastic surgery? No way!

90. Which are better, black or green olives? Black.

91. Can you knit or crochet? Nope. Wouldn’t mind trying to learn though.

93. Do you want to get married? Yes eventually.

94. If married, how long have you been married? Refer to the previous question.

95. Who was your high school crush? Didn’t have one.

96. Do you cry and throw a fit until you get your own way? I probably got away with it as a child, definitely not happening now. I’m not like that anyway.

97. Do you have kids? Nope.

98. Do you want kids? In the foreseeable future, yes.

99. What’s your favorite color? Black. The color of darkness. LOL

100. Do you miss anyone right now? I miss a handful of people, especially those who live far away that I don’t get to see often.

If you’ve done this tag, feel free to link to your post in the comments. Always curious to see other’s answers to these things.
