Target Beauty Box – Hello Hydration

I had no plans on purchasing another one of these boxes any time soon. But when I saw that this was available last month for $7 (originally $10), I gave in. This box featured hair and skin care products to help “kick the winter blahs”. Yes, we’re already into Spring, but I’m still feeling the after effects of the previous season, especially with the weird weather that’s still lingering here in the Bay Area. Let’s check out what I received (prices listed for these products are for their full size in USD).

Gliss Ultimate Repair Shampoo & Conditioner ($5.49 each) –  The keratin formula claims to restore hair’s strength while also preventing future damage. I’ve only used this once since getting my hair straightened a few weeks ago. So far the scent isn’t bad, although it could be a tad lighter. My ends are already dry as is, but this might prove to be more beneficial after I have a trim.

L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Masks ($9.99) – Although I’m not an avid face mask user, I’ve been curious about these. Glad I’m able to sample all 3 of them. Hopefully I’ll like at least 1 so I can purchase it in full size. The masks contain 3 pure clays and come in 3 types:

Purify & Mattify w/ Eucalyptus

Detox & Brighten w/ Charcoal

Exfoliate & Refine Pores w/ Red Algae

Masque Bar Hydrating Face Mask – I’ve mentioned previously that I’m not the type to use a mask regularly, but this one I’m willing to try. I do love a good peel-off mask! Formulated with aloe, collagen, and vitamin E, it hydrates skin resulting in a youthful glow.

Raw Sugar Coconut & Mango Body Wash – This smells like being on a tropical vacation, but not overpoweringly so. Still have yet to use it.

Soap and Glory Face Soap & Clarity Face Wash – This 3-in-1 cleanser with yuzu claims to “purify, smooth and brighten skin”. It has a light, clean scent and my face felt nice after using it.

Sun Bum Sunless Self-Tanning Towelette – I already know this is going to be used on my legs because they are the one part of my body that does not tan. Why is that?! Fingers crossed that this doesn’t turn them orange.

W3LL People Expressionist Mini Mascara – The botanical blend nourishes lashes and is also 100% cruelty, coal tar, and aluminum free. I wanted to like this since it wasn’t clumpy when I applied it. Unfortunately, after checking myself in the mirror following the event that I attended that evening, it was a bit of a smudge fest under my eyes (boo).

I’m pretty satisfied with more than half of I received, so I feel that it was worth the investment. I have another Target box on the way, so I’ll review that hopefully by the end of the month. Did you happen to get the Hello Hydration box? Let me know what you think of it.

Review – L’oreal Infallible Lip Paints

The latest release from L’oreal’s Infallible collection is a glossy lip product that provides high-impact color that’s also smudge-proof and waterproof. I read that this wouldn’t be released to stores until some time next year, but it’s currently available online and has been recently showing up at Walgreens. I ordered 2 shades online from Ulta.

The packaging is interesting since it initially looks like a squeezable tube, but it actually has a doe foot applicator. The product is glossy, has no runny texture, and wasn’t sticky after I used it. I tested its wear while having lunch with the family. The only time I saw any actual transfer was when I dabbed at my mouth with a napkin. The only gripe I have with the product is the slight scent/flavor it has. Luckily it faded a little while after application.

Top to bottom: Spicy Blush, Nude Star

I don’t see myself purchasing more from this line, but I’m satisfied with what I received. You can check out the shades on Ulta’s site. Let me know what you think of this product if you’ve tried it.

Target Beauty Box – Sweet Treats

I had to get my hands on this box because it had 10 items. That’s the most I’ve seen by far. Price points are listed for the products’ full size in USD.

What’s inside:

Soapbox Coconut Oil Shampoo and Conditioner ($5.99 each) – I’m not often fond of coconut, so the first thing I did with these was smell them. The scent thankfully isn’t overwhelming. The formula is said to moisturize and thicken hair. I’ll be testing this during the trip I’m taking at the end of the month.

Mayfair Soap Foundry Body Creme – Sea Lily Jasmine ($8.99) – Haven’t used this yet, but I’m excited to since it’s gotten 5 star reviews on Target’s website. This is one of 2 scents that the product comes in, and this one smells amazing.

Vera Wang Embrace Eau de Toilette – Green Tea and  Pear Blossom  ($29.99) – Anything with the scent of green tea is right up my alley. It’s a nice floral mix of the two, plus notes of freesia and sandalwood.

L’Oreal Boost It Air Blown Texture Mist ($3.99)  – This is said to provide lift at the roots and build body with its weightless formula. I luckily don’t need this, so I’ll be passing it along to my mom.

Skinfix Lip Repair Balm ($4.99) – This flavorless balm contains coconut and jojoba oils. I don’t think my lips have felt this smooth and healthy in a while, and that’s just after one use! This is nice to use at night before bed.

The Bathery Exfoliating Mesh Sponge ($1.99) – I liked how one of the previous Target boxes I received had one of these sponges, which I’m currently using. Now I don’t have to worry about purchasing a replacement.

Laneige BB Cushion ($34) – I already use the full sized one in Medium. It’s nice for light coverage, and added SPF is a definite bonus. The sample comes with 3 shades and puff to use with them.

Derma e Hydrating Night Creme ($25.99) – The texture of this is not too thick and my skin felt nice when I tested it on the back of my hand. Although I would prefer if it had a lighter scent or none at all. I honestly wouldn’t want to fall asleep smelling like a bouquet.

Incoco Nail Polish Applique in Second Nature ($4.99) – I haven’t used these yet, but the instructions on how to apply them are similar to the ones that I’ve tried from Sally Hansen in the past. The neutral shade of these are all me. 😛

This box contains over $100 in product value (full size), and there are only 2 products that I don’t plan on using. That’s pretty darn good! If you also purchased this box, I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.

Current Faves – Mascara

More Spring cleaning going on with the cosmetics. Sadly, I have to toss out 2 mascaras that I’ve grown to love last year. I try my best to dispose of them every 4-6 months depending on how much I use it, which actually isn’t very often. I received the Rimmel ScandalEyes Retroglam in a past Influentster VoxBox. The unique brush shape was able to cover the whole width of my lashes within 1-2 strokes, even the tiny ones in the inner corners. What I really liked about it was that it stayed put with no flaking or the dreaded “raccoon eyes” after several hours of wear. That’s something I wouldn’t expect from a mascara that wasn’t waterproof. I purchased Maybelline’s Volum’ Express The Mega Plush to use with a cosplay I wore during SDCC. It worked great just like the one from Rimmel, except this was waterproof. I would purchase either one again, but in the mean time I’m making use of some other mascaras from L’oreal, Eyeko, and Tarte. Since it’s quite a few to go through, I probably won’t be purchasing my all time favorite (L’oreal Voluminous Waterproof) until summer arrives.
